Does anyone know of any nice pubs/cafes etc near Newcastle Airport (or off the A1M, up to the airport) to grab a nice lunch before flying out?
I'd just be looking for somewhere better than a Mcdonalds, Pizza Hut etc but with not knowing the area at all, I havn't a clue.

There is The Badger pub, not sure in miles, less than 3 minutes past the airport turning.

There is also a Dobbies garden centre, may not be what you are thinking of since it is a garden centre but the food is great there too.MollyJoe0 -
And if you are coming up the A1, there is a Toby Carvery just off the A1 at Kingston Park.

The Wheatsheaf at Callerton Parkway - about 5 mins from Airport. (Used to work in the Premier Inn next door so I'm just biased :rotfl:)*The RK and FF fan club* #Family*Don’t Be Bitter- Glitter!* #LotsOfLove ‘Darling you’re my blood, you have my heartbeat’ Dad 20.02.200

I think it is looking like the Toby Carvery, The badger Pub looks really nice but my daughter does like a Carvery (especially with free Ice Cream).
I think I’m staying at that Premier Inn (CallertonParkway) on the way home, So I might have a look at The Wheatsheaf then.0 -
Toby Carvery is nice too - I had my 30th birthday meal there and it was nice I must admit.
Mew - I'm fairly sure its still called the Wheatsheaf but its changed hands so many times since I worked there I cant remember! It's a nice pub though and the food is good. Little tip for you at the Premier Inn - try and avoid the rooms over the pub if you can, its noisy and the stairs are a nightmare *The RK and FF fan club* #Family*Don’t Be Bitter- Glitter!* #LotsOfLove ‘Darling you’re my blood, you have my heartbeat’ Dad 20.02.200 -
Toby Carvery is great especially if you love roast dinners.
The Badger is part of the Vintage Inns chain if you want to look at their menu online.
Wouldnt recomend the garden centre for a meal (fine for a snack) but their meals are not good value in comparison to the Badger or the Toby. Value wise The Toby is best as you can have as much veg as you like

Although not that close to the airport, North Shields Quayside isn't too far.
My daughter went to Sambuca restaurant yesterday with her mate and they each had a 3 course lunch for £3.95.
Here is their website link http://www.sambucas-restaurant.co.uk/main.htm
Scroll down .. it's the 'Blackboard Special' .. you might have to book though, in advance0
