Cheapest only electricity tariff
Options
Hi all
I am moving into a flat at the start of june which is all electric for utilities. It has an economy 7 meter. Me and my freind both work during the day and will not be home untill 7-8 pm in the evening.
I have had a look on a few sites but can not tell whiich is the cheapest supplier in p/kWh, which at the end of the day is what you want isnt it!
Does anyone have an idea of who this may be.
All of the direct debit details seem to be structured differently, percentage discount, flat amount taken off bills etc.
Any advice would be appreciated

Its not that easy as suppliers all have different numbers of primary and secondary units, as well a regional differences in price. The price ratio between day rate and night rate units also differs.
When you move in you will just take over the existing supplier. If possible find out what the previous people were using, or it may be possible to get this information from the supplier.
Its then just a matter of putting these figures into a comparison site. That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -

Don't know about you, but most people simply want to know who is the cheapest supplier for them, which is what comparison sites provide."Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100 -
Cost per K/watt is meaningless as different Utilities offer different discounts
As this is a rental get onto the existing supplier, who you will have to use when you move in - Register your occupation with them the day you mov in and give them the meter readings - Ask them what the Annual Consumption figure was for the previous tenant, then use this on the comparision sites to look for better deals
Again as it's a rental, you could find that the present supplier is Spark Energy - If this is the case post again for more advice0 -

That would mean giving consumption data from the previous customers account.
They could give the Data Collectors Estimated Annual Consumption (EAC) after they pass a reading to them since that data/is tied to the MPAN, not the customers account. Call centre staff won't have access to EAC's or even know about them though, so it would require someone in a metering/billing capacity.:rotfl: It's better to live 1 year as a tiger than a lifetime as a worm...but then, whoever heard of a wormskin rug!!!:rotfl:0 -
After much checking, and using comparison sites, I went for Scottish Power, one of their online tariffs. Checked recently and it is still the cheapest - 'Online Fixed Price 2013'.
Immersion and tumble drier run during the night on timers. Washing machine about 50/50 split with daytime, electric hob and oven, dishwasher, small fish tank, tv etc..... Using about 30 kWh per day, and it doubles in winter.0
