Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 11th May. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chatabout everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring andmotivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to dotoday or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in,put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) andjoin us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be awarethat many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, soplease don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help othersthat don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly butif not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you goto bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two dailythreads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each newdaily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you haveto though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does justas well.
Morning all
TFI Friday, it's been a long week even though it's only been 4 days!
Hubby's working Saturday & Sunday again this weekend, though hopefully only for a few hours, it a GP weekend so I'll need to record it if he's going to miss it.
DW is on, not enough stuff to put the WM on, so I'll do that tomorrow, it's supposed to be sunny here at the weekend, that would make a pleasant change from all the rain we've had lately.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

Morning Hester,
I can see a bit of BLUE SKY here in Essex:eek: Forecast for the weekend seems hopeful so will put the WM to good use! I don't really have the space for indoor drying in this little cottage so everything backs up in the wash bin until the weather improves. I read somewhere that pinecones are good weather indicators. As I my garden backs onto a forest, I picked up a few cones and hung them from the cherry tree outside the back door. Apparently, if the weather is going to be good, they open their 'arms' and keep them tightly closed if rain is forecast. Trouble is, they do it AFTER the event i.e. if we have a sunny day, they wait 24 hours and then open up. Likewise, it has to rain for a bit before they realise and shut up shop.:rotfl:
Must put a chicken in the SC to poach before I go to school today. As a rheumatoid arthritis sufferer, I can just about make it to Friday at school. Anything more energetic than putting a salad together on a Friday evening is asking the impossible:o
Am hoping to be able to get some work done in the garden this weekend. The veg are way behind where they should be and the greenhouse is overflowing.....
Have a lovely Friday

morning all. have woken up with yet another cold grrrr. I swear it's this weather. Just been going through the freezer and we are actually running low  on the meat front still got a bag of chicken thighs, 3 packs of smoked salmon, 5 individual steak pies, 2 steaks, 4 pizzas, 2 packs hot dog sausages, 1 kiev and 1 turkey steak so not what some might call empty but certainly empty for me!!! Pleased to say all bread products now gone. If only I could say the same for my hoard of body lotions!!!
I have in the fridge 3/4 mr T finest carrot cake bb 6th May. Still tastes fine to me but really not going to get through it all. Do you think I can freeze it by the slice? I'm not overkeen on the icing so am wondering whether to bin the icing but freeze the cake.MrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025
