My Acer Laptop is very quiet

Hi

I Have an Acer Aspire 5100, and even with the volume turned high it's very quite when listening music/watching dvd's etc, but say if I shut the pc down the 'windows music' is really loud.

Is there something I can adjust?

Thanks in advance
Mrs P

Try start / control panel / sounds and audio devices / advanced
  • Thanks, have just tried that and it seems that everything is up to the max - perhaps they don't go very loud then??

Have you tried adjusting the media players own volume as well as the system volume in control panel? Media player volume could be down low (causing music/video to be quiet) with system volume maxed out (causing loud start up/shut down)...

On our Samsung laptops at work, the volume is controlled by the sound driver software, so it all sounded very quiet, but when this software has already shutdown (i.e. when the laptop was shutting down and starting up), the volume went to max by default.

We figured out that there was a key combination on the keyboard that we could use to change it. On that laptop, you had to press the function key and then the page up or down to change the volume. These keys had a little speaker symbol with up and down arrows.

It might be worth checking your keyboard in case you are suffering something similar.
  • Hi

I can adjust the volume this way, but the loud still isn't loud.

ginjim, do you mean msn messenger??

I have a 5100 and the audio is very loud for all the size of the built-in speakers. However audio quality is similar to a transistor radio! Do yourself a favour and add a decent speaker system to it (it doesn't have to cost the earth).
