Broken parrot Bluetooth car kit

Hi,
About a month ago I bought a parrot Bluetooth car kit from halfords.the kit comes with a wireless remote control, this attaches to the steering wheel and enables the phone to be used with touching it.
Last night I pressed the main button on the remote and heard an unusual click, when looking at the remote later on the casing was coming apart and it can be seen that part of it is broken.
I have spoken to halfords about replacing it and although they have said to bring it in to be assessed they have also made it pretty clear that Parrot very rarely replace such units as " they don't just fall apart" so therefore it must be misuse!
I have got the receipt, and I paid on credit card so just wanted to have an idea of my options before taking it back into halfords.
Thanks

I originally read the title as a parrot had broken your car kit
As it is under 6 months old it is up to them to prove that it wasnt faulty when you bought it rather than for you to prove it is faulty. Take it in and let them have a look at it and report back if they do anything other than accept it is faulty0 -
The onus would be on them to prove the faulty is the result of misuse within the first 6 months - so that's a good start I guess. Although they would be within their rights to repair it.0

Cheers for the replies. I was expecting some " ex parrot" jokes but not that the parrots were actually causing the damage!!
I will try and get into halfords and report back with what is said.0 -
I gave up on parrot products some time ago, the control units are made from ferrero Rocher boxes I am sure of it, I went through 3 control units at £65 a time, you press the button to answer the phone and crack, its broken, I tried a better model control box and crack same again they are not fit for purpose, something in a car designed for communications should be built like a taxi radio, solid, robust, strong not fall apart, crack and break because it is made of the cheapest Hong kong plastic they could find, I will never buy another Parrot product, they are far to weak and feeble and damn expensive as well .Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. I have been into halfords today and their response was basically they have never seen these units break this way before so therefore it must have been misuse.
I explained that the onus was on them to prove there was not a fault when i bought it and got the answer that if there was a fault i would have brought it in earlier.
The control broke, while it was on the steering wheel harness and when pressed as per normal use.
I have spoken to consumer advise and will now be writing a letter stating my rights. Will see what happens !
Is there anything else i could do or is it just a waiting game now??
Thanks0 -
