Small(ish) automatic

Ok, so the wife will pass her driving test soon and will need to get her a new car as she wants an automatic though she has learned in a manual.

She grew up in south america and so is used to big engined, large cars with automatic transmission. She doesnt like the "small" roads in the UK and so doesnt want a big car but doesnt like the idea of under powered 1.1 engines etc.

Problem, I dont much about smallish cars and I dont know about automatics, so would appreciate anyones suggestions.

She did like the Mini Cooper S but doesnt like the look of the second grill in the bonnet and doesnt like the lower power of the below S level engine.

Did you go for the 122 or 185 bhp A1?

I second this recommendation! Though I don't have the automatic I have a friend who does and he loves it. I have the 1.4 TFSI Sport and it is bloomin' lovely. Inside it doesn't feel like a small car at all. Mine's the 122. The 185 doesn't have stop:start if I remember correctly....
  • Are those Audi's proper torque converter gearboxes or one of those best not owned out of warranty.
