Lloyds TSB Credit Card

Hey folks,

Would welcome some advice. Got a Lloyds TSB Airmiles Duo which I have held for years. Credit limit has gone up and up over the years taking me to a limit of £5250. Regularly use the card and pretty much always pay in full. If for some reason I don't pay in full, I pay way more than the minimum amount.

Decided to purchase a new kitchen over the weekend. Put in on my card with the plan to have it paid off in July (cheaper interest than shop finance). Buying the kitchen left me with approx £700 credit left on card. Got my statement through today which informed me that my credit limit has been decreased to £4550 leaving me with £18 left on card.

Now I appreciate that banks are within their rights to alter credit limits as they see fit, however feel a bit narked that I have had no notice and conveniently they lower it after I have made a large purchase. I've been in contact with them and they claim that there is nothing wrong with my account (never had a missed payment or anything like that) stating that they are just being responsible lenders. I've just paid a chunk off through internet banking but can't help but feel concerned and worried about this.

I recently opened an account with Bank of Scotland and had my salary changed over, could this have something to do with it?

Is this normal? Any advice or similar experiences would be appreciated.

Thanks xx

Yes if bank see no income coming into the account, might think you have lost the job.
