How long does a no claims bonus last?
I've managed to accumulate 8 years of no claims bonus but I'll be leaving the country for a year and therefore don't have any need for a car or insurance. However, I obviously don't wish to lose my no claims. How long can I go without insurance for and still use my previous no claims bonus? How will it work when I go to renew, do I just present them with the latest certificate I have and tell them I haven't driven for a few years?
Thanks for your help.

Not sure, but when I lived in America for a couple of years, I returned to find out that my no claims were no longer valid :-(0

I think 2 years is normal, may differ across insurers but 2 years is the norm.
May pay you to contact an insurer that can "keep" your no claims for later.I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0 -
Most insurers accept NCD proof up to 2 years old.0

I think companies may differ, but you should let your insurers that you're not going to be driving for a while, and ask what happens when you get back on the road.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,
What it may grow to in time, I know not what.

2 years will do nicely. I'll check with my insurance company though. Thanks for your help.0
