Although a keen Mse-er I didn't know of this section, til google bought me here today
Last weekend DH received a contractual parking charge notice for parking too long on a toysrus / macdonalds car park.
He did stay too long, met a work colleague there, went in his colleagues car to an appointment and returned a couple of hours later for a mcdonalds.
Was just on the verge of paying when DH was told to google the company - which led me to here.
So i suppose I'm going round the houses to confirm even though he did stay too long that we can ignore this letter and not pay?
thanks so much for any help/advice

Who is the registered keeper of the car he was driving ?
VERY IMPORTANT !!!!Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
Yep is it a company car he was driving ?Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?
They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?0 -
No, its our own car0

If the car is registered to your address then you can ignore the impersonation of authority scam, if you look on the top thread you will see a sticky containing pictures of all the scary impersonating letters they will be sending to your door.
Just ignore these clowns and watch out for bait traps left out tempting you in to arguing with them .
They have no legal or lawful right to fine you, so they will just use bluster and windbaggery instead.
Click Crabmans excellent link, dont forget to thank him, scroll down to G24, yes they are that predictable

Phew, thank you, yes, our first letter matches one on the sticky.
Again, thanks0 -
Yes it all a scam just ignore. If you were wondering about the company car question, it's because the threatograms go to the registered keeper of the vehicle, so your company/lease company and so on.Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. It's all actually a Government Health Department initiative to try and discourage people from eating at McDonalds, in order to reduce levels of obesity.
Well, that is the only justification I can see for this scam.
As he nearly paid (like too many people) what you need to do is to spread the word amongst all your family and friends so that none of them will fall for this trick.0 -
Just got sent a letter from G24 for staying too long. The case was already broken since the register owner and driver are different. Already had a letter prepared to state that, but now wondering if it is even worth the price of a stamp to send it? Doubt the invoices would stop if I sent my letter.
The thing that annoys me is that the car park charge happened while I was at a health resort (as well as other shops) which offered free parking. Surely common sense would mean I would be at the resort for some time (, and then do some shopping/eating later). No honest person would limit the time at a cinema car park to 2 hours, would they?0 -
You hit the nail on the head: "No honest person". A scammer only interested in raking in cash might, though!
You are better off just ignoring. As you say, it will cost you a stamp, and they will still pester the RK for the name of the driver. Also you are giving the impression you think the fake ticket is legit if you respond.
Just ignore it, if they don't know who the driver was they are up the creek without the proverbial.0
