is it likely i'll get rejected?

Hi all,

just looking for a little advice about applying for a credit card.

I've got 1 credit card and 3 overdraft accounts that I'm pretty much up to the limit on all accounts right now, I have been unemployed but I'm starting job on the 21st which is £23,000 p/a

I am looking to reduce debt, but I have no money to get me by until I get paid (it's monthly, so could be a while). I haven't had a late payment on my account since 2008 but I'm jsut wondering whether to bother applying or not as I don't want to impede my chances of getting a credit later.

oh, I've also got a storecard with topshop.

You're unemployed, so presumably have no/little income.
Even if you apply after the 21st you haven't been in your job past it's probationary period (which won't score highly on a lender's stability criteria).
You're maxed out at (virtually) 100% of the credit available to you.
There may still be late payments markers visible on your credit file (unless the accounts are still active?).

Based on the above, I'd say an application anytime soon would be a wasted credit search...but then I think you realise that?

Yeh I did think it was unlikely :(

I'm still on a Natwest graduate credit card with what I think is 0% interest. I only pay about £4 a month on it with a balance of -1783 and have made cash transactions on it.
My graduate account overdraft maximum is 2000 and im at 1800.

Maybe I'd have more luck attempting to get them to increase my limit by 200? Would that still require a credit check?

I thought it was against some bank's T&C's to have more than one student/graduate overdraft, if thats what these are. Or am I making that up?

I only have 1 graduate overdraft and a graduate credit card with Natwest. My other Nationwide accounts aren't student ones and I pay interest on them.

It is normally in their T&C's that you can only have 1 student account, but I have heard of people getting away with it.

I was at uni with someone who got 'found out'. It didn't end very well.
