i will look into this and see what his response to my email is like. the SOGA says that the goods need to fit for purcpose and quotes 7 years in certain situations. i would argue that a £1500 mattress should not be uncomfortable or have bits proding in your back after 18 mths.
i'll also check who there guys are and see how much an assessment costs.
Sorry it's not a £1500 mattress, you paid £900 for it so therefore it was worth £900. Not matter what the RRP, WAS Price or anything else before it. The purchased price is the price.
Having said that, how big are these dips? Run a straight edge over the mattress and the measure down to the dip. The normal accpetance is about 2 inches.Helping the country to sleep better....ZZZzzzzzzz0 -
2" is vey poor for memory foam IMO
Depends on the quality of the foam.
Too much and I'll quote from someone else that made me laugh. too much memory foam and
"it's like being raped by a marshmellow"
as you'll sink into it and be surrounded by heat retaining foam.Helping the country to sleep better....ZZZzzzzzzz0 -
the dip on my side is about 1". the foam is only 2" thick maximum.0

I wouldn't say that a dip of 1 inch is a fault with the product, it just showing signs of use. It means that the mattress is doing it's job properly and molding around your body as it's designed to do. That's why mattresses should be flipped over or memory foam matts should be rotated regularly, so the whole of the mattress has chance to be used.
Anyone on here have long pile carpet? I bet that, the bit underneath the telly or sofa still looks good and fresh? While the rest of the carpet may have changed colour sightly and possibly flatten.
Why because the bit under the telly and sofa has never been used.
Your bed is no different apart from it probably gets used more.
Hope that helps a little.
Added: To make matters seem even worse, it happens quicker on better quality mattresses generally then the cheaper end of the market. Why? Because the cheap matts have a massive open coil spring that doesn't mold around your body. Also they have very little filling, less fillings, less to get flatten.Helping the country to sleep better....ZZZzzzzzzz0 -
I thought the idea of memory foam was that it remember and always returns to its original state not leave a dip ?0

It's not the foam I doubt that's causing the dip, it'll be the springs underneath. Foam may have dipped a very small amount.
There will also be other fillings underneath the foam. Memory foam mattresses are not just springs and foam.Helping the country to sleep better....ZZZzzzzzzz0 -
i haven't recid a reply back yet so emailed him again.
i popped into bensons and spoke to the manager who said although it all needs to go through customer services now, he said it shouldn't be digging in or constantly dipped as mine is. i rotated it to and i'll see if it comes back but it doesn't explain the metal bits digging in.
i also know that cost is nothing, i paid £900 so its worth that. i could have paid the 1600 1 wk earlier but i got it in the sale.0
