Sept '12 family hol abroad- how to get cheapest?

I will read through the forum as not been here for a while but I wanted to ask first off if anyone knew of any websites/ways to get a really good value for money holiday abroad for a family of 4 in Sept?

I have looked through Travel Republic as we booked our honeymoon (with kids!) last year through them and it was the same time of year that we went. Unfortunately though due to car repairs and other things, I can't afford a £700+ deposit right off and the rest in a month's time. Unless there are any places offering low deposit and the rest payable less than 12wks before, I am probably looking at trying to save and booking a last min hol which I have never done.

Do free child places exist (our kids will be 3 and 6)? If so, is the holiday cheaper or does the holiday tend to cost more anyway with the places offering these 'free' places?

I can't remember how but I remember looking through Ryanair's flights for the dates we wanted last year and finding the 'no-tax' ones? That dropped the cost a bit.

We ideally would want, if Europe, an AI hotel, coastal, decent standard and food, and in an area not too boring. We went to Majorca- Calas de Mallorca last yr- hotel great VFM but area boring.

I have heard Bulgaria is OK but not sure if OK in Sept or best family parts to go? Is it still cheap to buy food and drink?

Failing that, we could always try camping abroad BUT as we live in Sheffield, this involves a fair drive to the ferry, ferry fare, then another drive, on top of the holiday cost and spending money. We tried camping in France but wasn't keen on the area. Would consider Spain but it would probably cost loads and be a lot of stress getting there.

So.. help! cheapest family hol abroad, and could I possibly get anywhere paying low deposit and rest not until maybe late June/early July at the earliest? If not, what is last min booking like for Sept? 9It would be 1/2 sept so still school holiday time technically).
