Help Choosing An Air Purifier

Hi,

I'm interested in buying an Air Purifier for my bedroom. The main reason is because by room gathers a lot of dust very quickly. While I realise an Air Purifier will not eradicate this problem, I'll be happy if it reduces it.

I just want something basic and reliable.

I'm thinking of spending £30 max. After searching and coming across good reviews online, I've narrowed the choice down to the following 2:

Vicks V-9071 Hepa Air Purifier (£30.00 inlcu P&P).

Box/Package measurement 37cm x 18cm x 30cm. Couldn't get info on exact product dimensions.

Heaven Fresh Hf 100 Air Purifier (*£25-£27. Various sellers sell it
within this price range including
Amazon & retailers like Wilkinson.
I've put the manufacturers website
link as they provide extensive
details on product)

*The Heaven Fresh Hf 100 Air Purifier doesn't need filter to be replaced unlike the Vicks model. It's received good reviews from a variety of sources online, not just Amazon (although the Vicks model has got quite a lot of good reviews on Amazon). It does appear to be a lot smaller than the Vicks model though.

Would appreciate recommendations & a pointer on which one I should go for please!

Thanks :)

I suspect the fact that the smaller one doesn't have a filter will mean that it's not very effective against dust - and bear in mind that to clean the dust collector you have to remove screws and use a cotton bud soaked in alcohol - once a month!

The Vicks one looks to be much more capable, but for this one you have to take into account running costs - a new filter is "only" £15 and you need one every 6 months. I reckon it would be better to find one with a washable filter...

Thank you for your helpful input. Do you think this Vicks model sold at Argos for £62 has the features and provides the economical value you had in mind?:

I've realised that the best ones will be the HEPA filter ones, but these filters need to be replaced after a 6 months or so. I'm ok with that.

So for me, it's a straight choice between these 2:

    Bionaire BAP9240-IUK Air Purifier (£45.00):

    Or

    Vicks (Argos - £62, Amazon £30)

Which wld you guys recommend please?

    Thanks.

I've been using the Vicks air purifier for 3 months now. It really works. I have an indoor rabbit in my bedroom and my landlord is a heavy smoker, and being Asthmatic doesn't help. The air purifier reduced the cig smell and pet danders. I'm not coughing in the middle of the night anymore. I'm not using the Ionizer function because it emits ozone.

The Heaven Fresh one is also good but don't get it if you have Asthma like me. It has ozone emission, and even if a little, that's bad for your health in the long-term. HEPA filter doesn't risk cancer like air purifiers producing ozone.

This video gives you a rough idea how the Bionaire one looks. It's actually suppose to be better than Vick because it filters 99.9% instead of Vick's 97%. I'll be getting the Bionaire one soon and see if it's better.

Bionaire's filter replacing is also slightly more expensive. That's for inside filter. Don't throw the outside pre-filter cause it's difficult replacing that.

I am using Lux Guardian Air Platinum of Montreal Aerus from last 2 years and it is so quite and easy to use, it also controls other contamination from dust and humidity.
