Amazon credit card

Hi, I wondered if anyone had any knowledge of this card at all? I was thinking of applying for a credit card as I haven't got one and would like the security of paying for things on a credit card. I'd use it for everything and pay it off va DD.

I was tempted by this card because of the Amazon points scheme, I use Amazon all the time. I've had credit in the past although never had a credit card, and currently just have a mortgage. I'm not sure if this is the best starter card, it's issued by MBNA and I've heard mixed reviews about them. Any advice would be helpful, thanks.

I have this card - no problems with it. The limited amount of customer service I've had has been good and the online service is pretty easy to use. As always with cashback credit cards, the golden rule is to pay it off in full each month, ideally by Direct Debit so you don't have to remember.

The rate of cashback isn't especially high (from memory equivalent 0.5% for non-Amazon purchases / 1% for Amazon) but it's a nice, flexible card if - like me - you buy a lot of stuff on Amazon and would make good use of regular £10 vouchers.

I pair it with Halifax's now-withdrawn (from new applications) cashback card, spending the first £300 per month on that for the £5 cashback and the rest on my Amazon card. If any other card providers have similar deals (e.g. where they only reward you for a certain amount of spend) it might be worth considering.

In addition to the cashback you used to get a £15 voucher for signing up but I can't see any mention of that any more.

Hi thanks :) yeah this card was appealing to me because on average I buy several things on amazon every Saturday, books, DVDs, blu ray, games etc. I buy for myself and my family mebers who are too lazy to create their own amazon accounts and just give me the money. I planned to do as you suggested; set up DD and pay off in full each month.

Yeah now it's a £5 voucher when you sign up, you still get a £10 voucher for every 1000 points you earn and seeing as you earn 2 points per £1 on Amazon and 1 point per £1 everywhere else I'll probably be getting a lot of those :D you also get 13 months interest free apparently on certain orders.

Another good thing I spotted was the cheaper Amazon prices for paying on your card, it's only small amounts but everything helps.

    Thanks for your reply :).
