PayPal holding on to my money

Has anyone had a problem getting PayPal to pay money into their bank account in a hurry. They offer to speed up the process if you pay £5 to 1to2 working days. However, and here is the catch, they have a non descript disclaimer that says that due to security this could be delayed. I have just been told that may transfer would be held up for a further 72 hours and I could expect to get my money by May 15th or 16th, this was after I made the request on May 9th. They don't tell you what difference the extra 72 hours makes to the security of my account. They also couldn't tell me how many other withdrawals were held up like this. Is this purely a way for PayPal to hold onto money for longer?

Very few regular users believe anything Paypal say.

You might get a better response on the eBay board.

It's probably nothing to do with the security of your account but more to do with the security of their money.

It might be something like the money that you received into your paypal account came from another paypal account that was being flagged up as having suspicious activities on it, and paypal might be wanting to investigate the other account before allowing your payment to be removed from somewhere that is within their control.

It's never happened to me, so the above is purely a guess and may not have anything at all to do with the reason for the extra security checks.

Firstly, if the transaction takes more than the stated 1-2 working days to complete the £5.00 withdrawal fee is refunded back to your PayPal balance 24 hours after the withdrawal actually completes.



If your withdrawal is delayed PayPal may have placed a review on this withdrawal to ensure it is secure. For clarification I would advise that you call us by clicking on the contact us link at the bottom of any PayPal page and we can review your account.
