please explain what this is... is it safe ? Does it back up things automatically. Does it take the entire conents of my computer and store it 'somewhere', so that if my computer died, I could retrieve all file/pictures, music etc, from... somewhere ? Confused

Yes, looking at the developers website there is a cost.
Personally, I'd always be concerned with anything that claims to be "unlimited" and especially if it comes from a small company who dont have the capacity to make it sustainable or the scale of operations to make it a loss leader etc.
There are other similar options from big players like Google, Amazon, Apple, Dropbox etc but they are notably more expensive. Its up to you how much risk you are willing to take by using a much cheaper provider but one that may not be around forever.0 -
I send any precious documents, pictures etc, to myself in an email. "Cloud" storage for free!"I may be many things but not being indiscreet isn't one of them"0

Well, emailing it to yourself will depend on your email solution. If you simply have a POP3 email server that you use then it immediately comes back down off the cloud everytime you check your email.0

I use Dropbox for my "cloud storage". It's great - it creates a sub-folder under "My Documents" and automatically synchronises all the files in that folder across all the computers you install Dropbox onto (and up to the "cloud", of course). If you just want to use it as a "backup", you can - just install it one the one PC and the special "Dropbox" folder gets backed up to the cloud. I doubt that there are any guarantees that they won't lose your files or go bust, so I definitely wouldn't rely on it as my only backup...
It works on Windows, Mac, Linux, iPhone, iPad, Android and BlackBerry. You get 2GB free, but if you click this link we both get an extra 500MB as well: http://db.tt/6d0BLWq (or if you'd rather not, just go to dropbox.com).
There are a few other alternatives, like Microsoft's SugarSync, and you get 5GB free there... Maybe sign up for both (and any others) and grab as much free space as you can!0
