Bad news im afraid, it usually oil/grease from the drum bearings, the seal has probably gone, bearings arent cheap to get done, either that or somebodys left a biro in there

I concurr. I had the same problem, when I took it all apart. There was water in the drum bearing and the grease was getting on to the clothing. It's about a £100 service job, or cheaper if you have a contract thingy.

    Thanks for the replies.

It sounds Ok when in a spin mode. If it is what you think, would it be noisey when it spins ?

If it is what has been suggested then it would deffinately make a clancking noise as the bearings would be kaput. It sounds to me like it could be a leak on one of the seals.
Many companys do a free quote for repair, so you can deceide to repair or renew

It may be worth checking the door seal isn't caked with dirt & grease as it's quite surprising how much gunge builds up inside & around this as time goes on. This was the cause of marks on my washing last year.

A mixture of vinegar & washing up liquid should clean most of the surface muck off if there is a build up on yours.
The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.

I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.
  • I agree with Cattie - horrid gunk collects in the bottom of the door seal and if I forget to clean it, it marks my clothes. Also clean the filter - when it's full the bits stay in the drum. Disgusting job - why is the muck always purple with grey bits?
