Call from DRS Alarms (Direct Response)

I've just had a cold call about a Home Alarm System.
'Of course' they claimed it wasn't a 'sales call', and went on to explain they had agreement from local Police Force etc. etc..
They were offering a free Security system (worth £999?) but would cost £299 to fit.
They also claimed direct connection to local Police Station such that police would respond immediately to any alarm.
Sensing a sales call, I asked what ongoing fees there may be, and was told a recent customer was paying £5 per week.
I've since done some investigation, and it seems there WILL be an on-going monthly fee, but around £60 is more likely, with a multiple year minimum contract. So the total cost is likely to be over £3,000 for this period.
Clearly a sales call then, trying to sell these alarm systems (discounting initial purchase, but then clawing their money back through high on-going monthly costs).
I even found a Watchdog investigation of Direct Response Security Systems Ltd of Sutton Coldfield back in June 2010. I'm not sure if this is the same company, but since the caller left a Birmingham telephone number, I strongly suspect it is.
I have NO intention of proceeding with a meeting with their 'adviser' (aka Salesman!), but would be interested to hear of anyone else's experiences of the company......

There are 10 types of people in the world. Those who understand binary, and those who don't!
