Laptop from LaptopsDirect.co.uk

I bought a Lenovo laptop from Laptopsdirect.co.uk on 8th December 2011.

It has now developed a strange whirring noise and I would like it looked at under warranty.

I contacted Laptopsdirect.co.uk and they said I must contact the maunfacturer (they said it would be quicker that way) and provided a link from the Laptopsdirect.co.uk website which gave a phone number for Lenovo. The phone number is 0870 which I undestand will charge me for the call and I do not wish to pay for the call.

I emailed Laptopsdirect.co.uk again and asked for an email address but they can not provide one.

Where do I stand with regards getting my laptop repaired? Should it go to the manufacturer or the Laptopsdirect.co.uk?

Grateful for any advice.:)

Laptops direct are trying to get out of their obligations.
Assuming a standard 12-month warranty on the laptop, it should go back to them for looking at. If they decide to pass it back to Lenovo it's up to them.

What laptop is it? If its a used business one it may be quicker to phone Lenovo as it may have next day onsite parts and labour.

Go here and put in the details from the sticker on the base.

Your contract is with LaptopsDirect and therefore they are the ones that legally must sort it however in real terms they are correct in saying that dealing with the manufacturer directly can be quicker as ultimately if you post it to them they just repost it to the manufacturer a few days later and adding no value in the process.

0870 numbers may be charged, it depends on your tariff but if you enter the number into the website that has already been provided you will find alternatives that are either freephone or geographical
