Selling car overseas, safest form of payment ?

After some advice please. I may be selling my car to someone in Australia, and need to know the safest form or payment to accept. I am aware of the usual scams, and do actually think he is genuine (eg. not rushing it, paying for an independent inspection from a specialist, etc.) just really have no idea on how to accept payment.
Cheers

    cash or western union

If it is real ie the car is something rare that is worth transporting half way round the world (2006 mondeo unlikely to qualify) then talk to your bank for the name of an irrevocable inter-bank transfer .

Out of interest, what is the car?

Australia has some weird rules about importing cars. You couldn't import a 2006 Mondeo for example.

Its a 1989 911, had a check of the prices of them over there and they go for about double for what they go for over here.

Except the purchaser will have to pay significant import duties & technical compliance costs to try to get it registered

Well there must be something in it for them, because out of 3 enquirers about the car, 2 have been from Australia.

do you think they would care when they could possibly resale it at $20.000 AU + give or take condtion, min of $13.000 for a runner but restoration project.

im entrigued to find out why your considdering selling to the land of OZ?

a top condition 911 turbo 1989 fetches stupendous amounts of money and their just getting dearer to buy.

one that needs work fetches around 8k minimum in the targa S 2.2 dearest i found was one thats £52k in prestine concourse condition with very low miles in black with full black leather.

Wasnt my intention to sell it to Oz, but they seem to be the ones buying at the moment. It isnt a turbo, just a good conditioned 3.2. When I looked, they seem to be going for around £27-30K over there, so a nice little saving.

think you have that backwards, 30kGBP equate to approx $46k aud

looking on sites there your looking at £15kGBP $28k aud for your car.

the market is here for your car not there.
