car problems when wet
I'm having trouble with my 02 Punto when it has been sat outside and it has rained quite a lot.
It's not letting me put any power down and feels like it's stalling. EML has not come on and after the car has warmed up a bit it stops.
It's like it's missfiring
I seem to remember a Saxo I had years ago had the same problem and the solution was to spray the spark lead connections at the dizzy cap end with WD40 or similar to disperse the damp.
Any suggestions?

There is no Dizzy cap on a Punto Mk2.
Is this a 1.2 8v or a 16v? my guess would be old HT leads. Replace the HT leads and, if you can, the spark plugs as well and you should be ok.
Also, make sure the airbox is securly fitted and not letting any water onto the throttle body where the ECU and AFM is located.0 -

I was more refering to the spark plug end of the equation (or coil pack), any dampness around there is going to cause issues.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

If it is the HT leads the best way to tell is to open the bonnet at night and run the engine,if it is worn ht leads you will see a bit of a light show with sparks running down the leads, but do not touch anything as HT voltage can cause serious injury0
