i would think so0 -
We have travelled extensively with two dogs and never had any issues whatsoever, we now only have one dog which is well behaved and is trained well.0

hi, there are a variety of campervan on offer at camperbug.co.uk
They are mostly vw campervans and if you go to the campervan map, you can see the list of vans available for hire in Scotland.0 -
Just thought I would pop along to add my advice. We did exactly this last summer for 10 days and it was fab. We travelled to the west coast of scotland and stayed not longer than 2 nights at each site. I would advise you to plan your trip beforehand as some of the most popular sites require advance booking. Unless you know the area very well it is not something you can just jump in the van and see where you end up.
I would also advise spending a few hours on google earth when you have shortlisted a few sites you fancy. Remember your van is also your transport and you will not want to keep packing up to drive to get a bottle of milk or a meal at a pub, so make sure the sites you choose have facilities nearby, maybe a local shop or pub which does good food. Check http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/ for reviews on your chosen sites, people will tell you whether it is a convenient site for motorhomes etc.
We hired our van from http://www.chester-motorhome-hire.com/ and cannot recommend them enough. We unfortunately had a problem with a faulty clutch when we arrived at our first site near Lockerbie in Scotland. We rang the owner who did everything he could for us. So we would not have to cancel our holiday (he had no spare vans as it was August peak season) he rang around for hours and eventually hired one from another company and drove up to swap it over so it did not impact on our schedule. When we eventually dropped off the van after our holiday he apologised for the inconvenience (we understood it was just one of those things as all his vehicles are less than 2.5 yrs old) and offered us a free rental for a long weekend which was fab.
As regards to taking your dog, we took our little one and he has a "dog van" which is only rented to dog owners due to allergies. I think I just paid £30 extra cleaning fee.
This is not a cheap holiday, I will admit, we joked we could have done the carribean cheaper for a family but it was a great holiday.
I cannot recommend the motorhome experience enough. It is a totally different holiday than getting on a plane to go away. Our 10 yr old sons loved it and met different friends at different sites. We even travelled over to Balamory (Tobermory) and they still talk about our Motorhome Adventure today.
If you need any recommendations or advice on sites etc. just PM me and I will try as best I can.
Also we did stick to more coastal sites because of the midge issues and also it was great for the boys and the dog to wake up right on the beach.
Hope this helps

Thank you for your comments.
I have recently bought my first ever campervan (VW) having been a camper for years and so found some of your tips very useful.
My wife and i haven't been away in it yet, but will do within the next few weeks ... initially somewhere nearby as a trial run.
Happy camping !0 -
We hired a motorhome which we initially found on ebay, we stayed a week in their motorhome and a week in their cottage. As nice as the cottage was we wish we'd booked two weeks in the van.
It was so good we've since bought out own motorhome after many years of holidaying in a 1968 VW camper.
We drove up to their home in our car, transferred luggage over, had a quick guided tour of the van and were on our way really quickly.
Details of motorhome and cottage here.
