I have flown on this route with Virgin Atlantic (VS) and Air New Zealand (NZ). Both carriers offer a daily non-stop service between London Heathrow and Hong Kong.

VS operates the Airbus 340-600 and seat pitch in Economy is 31", less generous than NZ's Boeing 747-400 which is 34". Both VS and NZ offer an excellent Audio and Video On Demand in-flight entertainment, full meals and complimentary drinks, and VS does provide amenity kits as well.

With VS you can earn frequent flyer miles on the cheapest fares whereas if you fly NZ they won't give you nought unless it's a more expensive fare.

I have just returned from Hong Kong but it was the first time I have been on a long haul flight so cannot compare with any other airlines. I flew with Cathay Pacific in Economy. The seats did tip back slightly, there were small cushions, a blanket, eye masks if you wanted and a pack with flight socks and toothbrush & toothpaste in. There were videos to watch and games to play on the screen. There were 2 full meals (with a choice) with drinks.

I believe if you travel 1st class there is more room for the chair to go back and other extras but obviously this will be more expensive. Suppose it depends how much you want to pay.

    Hope this helps.

Don't think Business class is realistic. I rang up Travel Bag and they recommended Cathay Pacfic. Suppose it depends on personal favourite but I like the idea of more leg room on such a long flight and being able to book an aisle seat.
  • Right I make this point right away, I have not flown with this airline, so check out the reviews. BUT they are cheap, like the budgie, but better. As cheap as £270 return.

*747-400s were previously owned and operated by Singapore Airlines*

Anybody have any reviews or flown with them?

Have flown with Oasis. Good staff. Seat pitch was fine. It wasn't bad at all, but take your own food.

Economy from 270 return. Business 1100. Notwithstanding the 2 for one Business Class seat offer.
