According to Martin on Radio 5(?) this lunchtime when talking about Continuous Authority on Credit and Debit cards, your bank should have accepted what you said and put a stop to the payment, and any further payments, from your account. Again, according to him, if they didn't you should make a complaint about your bank to the FSA."There are not enough superlatives in the English language to describe a 'Princess Coronation' locomotive in full cry. We shall never see their like again". O S Nock0

But this is a single payment. Nothing to do with Continuous Payment Authority.
I doubt that a bank would cancel a pending payment without a good reason. There's been plenty of threads here about banks refusing to do so.
Unfortunately the OP hasn't been back to let us know whether the payment was taken or just ring fenced and bounced back to their account.
I'm surprised Martin suggested complaining to the FSA. Perhaps he was having a bad day or you misunderstood.0 -

But the OP said there was a SECOND payment pending, which would make it a CPA, surely?"There are not enough superlatives in the English language to describe a 'Princess Coronation' locomotive in full cry. We shall never see their like again". O S Nock0 -
So noted, don't deal with this company.

I can't see anything about a second payment. Can you quote what you're referring to? It appears to me there was only one payment of £69.99 pending.0 -

ENHANCE FINANCIAL SERVICES (MACCLESFIELD) THEY ARE PATHETIC XXX
I took the part I've highlighted to mean one payment had gone out and another was going out.
And sorry, where I said Martin said go to the FSA, I should have said the FSO (Financial Services Ombudsman, not Authority)."There are not enough superlatives in the English language to describe a 'Princess Coronation' locomotive in full cry. We shall never see their like again". O S Nock0 -
I am in the same position as the OP. I have spent 3 hours on the phone crying begging and pleading with the bank to stop the payment.
I have not applied for anything with these people, only looked for a loan. For me to lose £69.99 is terrible. Im signed off sick from work single and have 4 kids to feed.
My bank have said their hands are tied they cannot do anything for 30 days.
Does anyone have any ideas to help me.0 -

OP doesn't mention a payment of £39 was taken from their account.
Later in the message they wrote:
So, I think there was only one payment taken of £69.99 (rounded up to £70 by OP). So this isn't a recurring payment.I cant beleive they took £70.00 from my account just becuse i went on their site...0 -
Could you start by explaining how you have so much money left over you could afford to repay a loan?hunnybee2781 wrote: »I am in the same position as the OP. I have spent 3 hours on the phone crying begging and pleading with the bank to stop the payment.

.
You can help yourself out by not inputting all your bank account details to a random website, why did you think these details are okay to give out?0 -
Hi thanks to everyone who posted a reply especially snow tiger who informed me that the details CAN still be sent across even without my permmission, i am really sorry to hear that this has happened to someone else, I have since recieved papers to cancell this "contract" which i have filled in and returned however I was told that it would take around 30 days to recieve my refund, I was really not happy with this, as they never should have taken it in the first place so I called trading standards on monday 14may and reported this matter to them they were very helpfull and gave me lots of good advice they informed me that this falls under the category of "breach of contract" and told me first to ring the company, send an official letter of complaint and give them a timeline to resolve the matter, if they do not resolve the matter i was told by trading standards to then take it further and involve the financial ombudsman, so i did i called the company ( enhance financial services) and spoke to the same customer service agent "jade" I spoke to the other two occassions I told her I had reported the company to trading standards, I told her I had not confirmed anything, I informed her I have researched this matter and since discovered that it was possible for my details to be sent accross to the company even though i hadnt signed a thing and that i was willing to wait a further 5 days from the 13may for the company to refund my money in full or then i was taking this to the next stage, her answer to this was that on the application form there are two pages the first page where you enter your details then the second page when you confirm and read through the terms and conditions, she said "WHEN SOMEONE COMES ON OUR SITE AND CLICKS THE NEXT ON THE BOTTOM OF THE FIRST PAGE THAT IS AGREEING TO THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS" she then said "OUR TERMS AND CONDITIONS ARE DISPALYED ON THE SECOND PAGE" so to clarify anyone that goes on their site and innocently clicks next is agreeing to the terms and conditions BEFORE you have or possibly could have read them, this is totally illogical how can a person agree to terms before they have read them, this is a very underhanded way of doing business and must be looked into further, surely this cannot be legal, I am so cross and angry with this company I have never dealt with anyone as underhanded as them before, I would like to ask the person who posted a reply stating that this had happened to them please do what I have done and report them to trading standards and the financial ombudsman, tell them they had no right to take this money out of your bank, this applies to anyone that this has happened to REPORT THEM TO TRADING STANDARDS, call them up demand your money back and tel them your not willing to wait 30 days, even if they do keep the money for that long why should we let them have an easy time of it, also I have now opened up a post office account and had my money sent to that account instead of my bank, this is a good idea for people on benefits as this way no one can ever touch your money.I will post an update regarding the financiall ombudsman and what they had to say, and also when i get this money refunded, please reply to this thread your posts have been very helpfull.
Here are some usefull numbers for anyone in this position:

TRADING STANDARDS (must be called through the citizens advice beaureau) 08454-04-05-06
THE FINANCIAL OMBUDSMAN

ps any confusion over whether this was a continuous payment or not it was not it was a "one off admin fee for providing me with a loan" according to the bank. (even though i never took out a loan)0
