Hi,
can anyone give me a bit of advice please?,
today i was driving down a narrow road when a car came the other way, i pulled over to let them past, next thing an elderly gentleman got out of the parked car behind and started screaming abuse at me ,saying i hit his car etc.
I was going at no more than 15 miles an hour and didnt even feel a bump.
after looking there is 2 tiny grazes ,smaller than the size of a pea,no colour has come off the bumper.
I tried to say sorry and i didnt know i had even touched him,he continued shouting, gave me his name and address,i gave mine.
His wife kept saying its nothing to worry about etc and gesturing for me to be quiet.
ive been in tears for 2 hours now,ive never had an incident in 30 years and im scared that i will lose all my no claims, i cant see what there is to fix,im sure it would polish out,any advice would be gratefully recieved, thankyou.

Worse case you will lose 2 years NCD, not all of it.

Sounds like the car behind you hit you, or do you mean the the car coming towards you hit you and parked behind you, or was there a car in front of you that you nudged?

Were you stopped when they drove past you?

In these cases 50/50 is the norm where there are no witnesses, even its 100% not your fault, they make a claim and your insurers opens their cheque book. You pay for their damage and they pay for yours, both NCD's get effected.

If he is still sayings you hit him and he has damage (no matter how small) then I would give him your insurance details and take his also, telling him that you also have damage to your car and will be making a claim against him. You may like to point out that the claim will get settled 50/50 and you both will lose 2 years NCD.

If cars clipped on a narrow road its normally the wing mirrors that touch and they push right back with no damage.

Good luck and dont worry about it.

    thankyou for replying,
he was parked on the left(all cars park on this side)as i drove on the right hand side a car came the other way at high speed ,as it was their right of way i pulled into a gap on the left, i believe i clipped him, even though i didnt feel it,i was just so shocked by the abuse.
I took a picture but you cant see anything because the mark is so mimimal,
do you think i should just wait,i wonder if when he calmed down he could see that there is nothing to repair,
    again thankyou so much,
i know im being a baby but i have never had an accident and just didnt know what to do.

If he was stationary it won't be 50/50.

Hi,thankyou for replying,i do take the blame ,as i said i didnt even realise i had clipped him, i felt nothing at all, there is not a mark on my car ,just these 2 tiny pea size grazes on his bumper.
i would have gladly paid to get it t cutted or what ever needed doing but he wouldnt stop shouting at me and calling me names etc.
I only have his name and address,he wouldnt give me his insurance details but i did give him mine.
Should i tell my insurance or wait and see, sorry to sound so naive but this is the first time i have ever had an accident.

You should call the police, tell them that he threatened you and that you were scared for your safety.

They'll pay him a visit and hopefully he'll realise that he can't bully women just when it suits him.

They will also be able to verify that the damage is minimal.

Gotta feel sorry for his poor wife!

He was abusive the op has provided no evidence of being threatened. It's a damage only rtc and therefore not reportable. The police won't do anything so don't waste your time.

OP report the matter to your insurance for information only if you have no damage to your car and you think he will follow us with a claim
