Speakers for I-Phone?

I was wondering if you can get little speakers to attach to an i-phone. I would want them to be able to use them in a car with no radio. Do such things exist?

I've tried looking on the Comet website as my husband used to work there and I'm sure he said someone once bought some small speakers, but I can't ask him as I would be getting them for him as a birthday present.

Any help would be gratefully received.

    The short answer is no.

Think about it, the iPhone is battery powered and designed to be used with low power headphones.
A car radio is powered from the car electrics and designed to be used with high power door-mounted speakers.

You wouldn't hear the little speakers

Griffin AirCurve? It's completely passive so doesn't require any mucking about with batteries besides the one in the phone.

They've recently released one that sticks to a window.

yes you can get mini speakers that work via a 3.5mm headphone socket. You can buy ones that allow you to either plug them in via the home plug, or on batteries for extra boost in the car.

This says mp3 (iphone wouldn't dock with it, but if it has a 3.5mm lead, you can use via headphone socket.)

    These:

and many others out there. Search Portable instead of mini.

N.B don't expect Bose quality of sounds for those types of products. Some are better than others, some are just plain carp!
If you have the space, and speakers already in the car, might be worth considering buying a cheap CD unit for it (but make sure it has an Aux in) then you can just connect the iphone to the unit.

I should think not – BOSE is awful overpriced marketing nonsense.

Thanks for everyone's replies, certainly a lot to look at.

Lifeforms, unfortunately no speakers in car as it's a 1959 Austin A35 van hence looking to get the speakers to attach to the i-phone.

I use this, it's only a fiver and puts out an impressively loud and clear output for such a tiny speaker.

    opinions naturally Ionkontrol :P

The point is, if you want impressive sound quality, you won't get it from the portable typed speakers unless you're willing to spend big money and time to find and fit them properly.

As a blu-tak/ductape jobby for just listening to music on the go in the car without worrying about best audio, then all of those posted will do it at a tiny price.

Another way to do it is to get battery powered (if you want likes of more powerful sound/bass/etc) set of computer speakers. They'd usually come with enough lead between the two units to be able to position left and right properly. You can get some reasonably compact ones, and if you don't object to second hand, you can also get some decent ones off likes of ebay. (make sure they're either AC or battery powered, or can be used with out power.

Thanks for every one's input. I have decided to go with the above as it seemed to have good reviews and for £5.99 thought it was cheap enough that if hubby doesn't like it or think it's not good enough at least I haven't spent too much.

    Thank you all again :)
