Getting nowhere with BT

Hi all

I hope this is the right place to post this but need a little advice...

I have a BT business account for one phone line and BT Business broadband. I'm moving office to another town so called BT on April 11th to tell them about moving and dealt with there business moving dept.

The order was placed that day with a provisional date for new services (phone + broadband) to be up running around the 24/25 April.

I asked very clearly that I wouldn't be cut off from my existing service and they assured me that wouldn't happen and there would be an overlap with no downtime. Upto now all sounded good so gave notice on my current office for the end of April.

I heard nothing close to supposed install date so called them and things were delayed. After several more calls I was told an engineer would visit on the 30th and broadband would be working from 8pm that night.
The phone line worked but BB didn't.

Its now the 9th May and despite me calling them several times daily, broadband isnt working and BT cant even place the order yet!

This morning however they ceased my line at my existing office meaning i have no broadband in either of the 2 offices and now my business is suffering as I rely on broadband as I work for an overseas company.

I should say the new office where im moving to has 14 offices in the premises and all have had phone/broadband for the last 5 years.
Its not a new development where cables have had to be laid.

I'm already struggling to pay both office premises and BT still cannot give me a date for the new broadband nor can they re-install the old line as its been ceased.

Whenever i call they just keep apologing and say its being worked on but still can give no firm date. Now I'm at home just waiting, watching the work pile up and struggling for money now.

Is there any sort of action I can take or compensation as i was assured i would not be without broadband during the move?

Go and buy a dongle, for the short term issue?

A dongle is good, mifi (from Three) even better as you can position it by the window to get better reception and connect several devices to it at once. Also would another business in the complex let you use their wifi? Alternatively a 10M ethernet cable is really cheap and you may be able to run it off their router. With so many offices there must be some short term solution.

I also recommend buying a lowly 56k modem as well as a last-resort backup. It might be painfully slow, but it'll be far better than nothing and will allow you to at least do some work.

Or if you have a smart phone, you might be able to 'tether' the data connection from it (effectively turning your mobile into a wifi router you can connect to). I've done this before when my BB went down and it worked really well for basic browsing and e-mails.
