Selling my car, best way to sell?
I no longer need my car, I'd like to get the best price, but selling it privately just isn't working and is getting expensive, any tips?
I've priced it competitively, used CAP pricing and looked on Autotrader for similar models, it's up on Exchange & Mart, Autotrader and eBay, but I've had no interest in a week so far. I've put up the best description possible with great pictures.
I've tried phoning dealers, and those places that offer to buy your car, but I've had ludicrously low offers.
Any tips? Or is the car market just dead at the moment?

I think that the market is reasonably dead but everything depends on the car and the price. I am looking to buy a car at the moment and there are huge variations in price for the same car/model. Also, anything a bit specialist, expensive to run or uneconomical will be slow to sell.
I saw a subaru estate advertised recently for sale privately as they had been offered a very low trade in. Advertised for £4K, its trade in value would be about £1200 and several similar private cars are advertised for £2K.
I have found the best way to find a cars value is to use the advanced search on ebay for completed auctions to see what people actually bid and pay.0 -
The car is a pretty normal 58 reg Ford Focus 1.8 style hatchback. It shouldn't really be hard to sell it.0

I've found small diesels are selling for a premium at the moment. Larger petrols aren't as popular.0

I put my old car up on Gumtree and sold it the next day!0

It's up on gumtree too! :rotfl:0

If you're pricing it similar to others on autotrader that's your problem. They're still on autotrader as no one wants them. How much are you asking for it?0

show us your advert and we will tell you where your going wrong0

Same ad everywhere. Autotrader, exchange and mart, etc.0 -
All this puts me off. - Full driving licence and proof of insurance will be needed to test drive. Payment by instant bank transfer or cash if handed over at a bank. Bankers Drafts/Cashier's Cheques will need to clear before you collect the vehicle.0

look at this one next to your advert in autotrader
£4,450
2008 Ford Focus 1.8 STYLE 5DR MINT CONDITION
and plagiarise some of it because its a stonker
frankly your advert would put off more people than attract as
its full of negatives
get a deposit off a buyer then worry about taking them to the bank
dont let them test drive you do the driving, tell them to go to a dealer if they want a free ride it not going to happen on your fuel unless they are buying today0
