First time seller!
We sale agreed on our property 2weeks ago, into the 3rd week now but i have no idea what were doing! What i mean by this is i dont know what solicitors do or what i'm supposed to be doing now.
We are moving in with family meantime so hav no follow on mortgage etc. Our buyers have sale agreed on their property probably about 5weeks now. I havent heard from anyone and don't know if i should be ringing anyone or what exactly gets done during a sale. I did ring the solicitor yesterday to ask them but noone called back.
I no this sounds silly but what gets done before exchange and what should i be waiting on?
Thanks for reading.

Your solicitor should be in touch with the buyers solicitor and estate agent. I would expect you would receive a form to fill in that would say if you are leaving any fixtures and fittings as part of the sale.
The buyer should be arranging a survey so I expect someone would make an appointment with you to carry that out.0 -
I would suggest you keep in contact with both the estate agent and the solicitor. Just because everything has gone quiet doesn't mean it's all ok. The first thing I would expect now is a survey to be carried out. It's possibe there might be two depending on how the buyer has done it. There will certainly be a valuation at least.
Be prepared for further negotiation after this if anything unexpected comes up. Most people go half on any repairs but it is up to you. You will get forms to fill in. Send them back as quickly as you can and as accurately as you can. You will get the contract to sign a bit later on.
When you send the contract back you may still have a wait while searches are done. Then if everything is ok the two solicitors will exchange contracts and at this point you will agree a completion date.
That's all there is to it really, not stressful at all lol.0 -
Thanks
At least i have a better idea of whats going on now.
Just got a call from a surveyor so feel a bit happier now. Cant believe how stressful its been already!
Im staying in the next house for good!0
