Pop up - Page(s) unresponsive

Hi, any help/ advice greatly received.

In last few days I spend more time starring at this pop up -Page(s) unresponsive- than I do at any web pages I try viewing.

I have checked the following-
BT signal strength showing as - excellent
computer showing- vista(C) 60% free space
Disk clean up done
Windows updates done
AVG showing all security features working correctly and up to date

My computer is 8 years old, is it just worn out and needs replacing or is there something obvious I'm missing that I should be doing?

A quick Google shows that this seems to be a problem mainly with the Google Chrome browser. I did not see an entry with a positive response to the problem, although I did not do a thorough search.

If you are using Chrome and cannot find an answer on the various pages that result from a search, I suggest you start to use a different browser.
