Query regarding overseas payment

Hi All,

I'm going abroad in the Summer and paying a private landlord for accomodation which roughly comes to 2500 euros. I know the cheapest way to pay him would be in cash but obviously a risk carrying a large sum of money like that.

What would be the best alternative?

I'm based in UK and paying him in euros in person and arrive the day i need to pay him.

Any help appreciated.

If you don't want to carry cash, then a same day bank transfer would be an idea.
Nat West charge £27 for this and cut-off point is 13:30.

Obviously the landlord will need access to his bank account via internet or phone.

You may also wish to check with your bank what commnission they charge on currency exchange as it's a large amount.

The other option is getting the landlord to go with you to the bank so he/she carries the cash.
It's not an ideal arrangement the way it's been set up. When I've done it before I've padi in dribs and drabs and used an ATM. Why do you have to pay this all up front?
