Car Insurance Renewal Offer Date?

Quick question - when do you usually receive your car insurance renewal offer? Mine is up at the end of the month however I have not received anything through the post yet. Not sure whether to stay getting new quotes at the moment. As long as I contact them to say I won't be auto-renewing before the end date, they can't force me to stay with their offer can they?

Should be about two weeks beforehand. You can always phone up if you haven't got it, and they should be able to tell you the price over the phone. Even if they can't you can still advise then you don't want to renew, and are going to shop around. If you follow it up in writing, with a proof of postage, they can't claim not to have heard from you.

It used to have to be generated 28 days before and so you would typically receive it 21 days before however that requirement was changed to a "reasonable" time before renewal.

Most insurers wont have bothered changing their systems and there is certainly a train of thought that the earlier the notice the less likely customers will switch. That said, some do send them out later.

If you havent received it within 2 weeks of renewal certainly call them to chase it

Thanks guys, i've just generated quotes and it seems alot cheaper this year, I will phone them with 2 weeks to go if I don't receive a letter, so I'll be armed with figures I know other companies can offer me!
