EDF Refunds
Has anyone else had problems getting their refund back from EDF? I moved house over a year ago and was in credit (significantly). They finally contacted me with a figure in early March and I rang them to confirm the address to send the cheque to. 8 weeks later, still no cheque. When I phoned them to chase they said "It has been referred to the Senior Management Team for authorisation as it is a large amount". It was referred to them almost 2 months ago!
Where do I stand regarding compensation - they have had hundreds of pounds belonging to me for at least a year longer than they should have had it - I have lost out on opportunities to gain interest on that money or to use it myself.
Any advice much appreciated!
Thanks

Raise it as a complaint, then if its still not with you after 8 weeks, you can raise it to the ombudsman.
They may give you a gesture of goodwill.
In terms on interest, did you also have the final bill and when did you first ask for it because that would be shared issue in obtaining/sending the refund?
8 weeks no matter how high is very poor. All they've got to do is spend a few minutes ensuring the person requesting it has it right...and senior managers ain't got a clue about customer accounts.:rotfl: It's better to live 1 year as a tiger than a lifetime as a worm...but then, whoever heard of a wormskin rug!!!:rotfl:0 -
I'm in much the same boat. I left EDF at the end of July with a credit of over £300. After many delaying tactics by EDF, I'm still waiting for the money. They seem to be experts in the "sloppy shoulders" syndrome. I think I will have to contact Ofgen,0

Update on the previous post. I wrote to EDF saying that, unless I received my money by the end of the month, I would contact Ofgen.
This morning I had another of those "I'll pass it on to the relevant department" letters. Yet another delaying tactic.0 -

You need to write a letter to them, headed Complaint. If the letter you have written is not explicitly labelled as such, it may not be actioned.
They then have 8 weeks to finalise the matter to your satisfaction. If they don't do this, you can then raise it with the energy ombudsman (not OFGEM http://www.ombudsman-services.org/complain-now-energy.html).0
