Car insurance quotes (not u-25, either)

Hey guys,

just been looking for quotes on car insurance for OH’s car (BMW 525d for anyone that’s interested), and I’m amazed by the difference in quotes between companies.

I’ve not renewed with the cheapest, as I’ve paid £70 more for £140 of breakdown cover for nothing (thus saving £70 overall), but just to give you an idea of what we have.

The car is a 2010 ’10’ plate car insured for 50000 miles (30000 of which are business) (it’s got about 97000 on it, so that’s about right), registered to a CM23 postcode with 29/M and 28/F drivers, both company directors in Entertainment.

£1270.63 was the cheapest (Yes insurance)
£1344.72 was the one we picked (HSBC, haggled breakdown cover on phone) :money:
£7417.52 was the most expensive (Acorn)

Anyone know what the reason for such a large quote would be?!

The large quote £7k+ would be because they dont really want to insure you.

I understand that, but it’s the highest quote by around £4k

Surely you’d make money from someone 2 people that have clean licences, not claimed (or crashed) for over 5 years etc. and we’re both careful-ish drivers.

    Or maybe that’s just me?!

50000 miles! Every mile you drive increases risk of something happening.

I'm surprised it's so cheap. It ticks all the wrong boxes. 50,000 miles, entertainment, not quite new BMW 5 series. No offence, but that's not the best risk. If you didn't have the 5 years ncd, you'd be worse than my 17 year old.
