Hi chaps
Just got my hands on an Iomega Network drive and followed the instructions to set it up.
1. Plug Drive in.
2. Attach via Network Lead to Router
3. Install Software etc.
I am on o2 Broadband using the Wireless Box II. The Ethernet port is lit up but the software cannot find the NAS. I went into the Router Admin area and cannot find the NAS connected by Ethernet (only ethernet connection is Sky Anytime).
Can someone shed some light on what I am possibly doing wrong.
I'm quite ok with computers (apart from networking....)
Thanks

Is it perhaps your Antivirus/Firewall stopping it ?4.8kWp 12x400W Longhi 9.6 kWh battery Giv-hy 5.0 Inverter, WSW facing Essex . Aint no sunshine ☀️ Octopus gas fixed dec 24 @ 5.74 tracker again+ Octopus Intelligent Flux leccy0

I don't think it's either as I cannot see it on the router admin page. As it's ethernet I would expect to see it as a device. I can see my Sky Anytime which is ethernet.0

Which anti virus have you got and are you using the windows firewall, the Iomega software will probably try to talk to the drive using broadcast first4.8kWp 12x400W Longhi 9.6 kWh battery Giv-hy 5.0 Inverter, WSW facing Essex . I've tried it on two machines (both wireless) - one XP using Avast and the other Windows 7 which uses McAfee.
On the XP one it did pop up for the Software and I selected Unblock. It's just not finding the drive on the network and I think it's probably something to do with the router but o2 dont have a clue (as usual).
What I don't understand is surely I should be able to see it on the o2 router page under devices connected regardless?0 -
Not sure if this will help, I've got an Iomega NAS attatched to my netgear router and when I first got it it couldn't be recognized. I plugged the ethernet cable into the router and switched it on but it never showed up. I checked online and apparently the router has to be completely off the first time it is connected. switch on the NAS then switch on the router and when the router is starting up it finds the hard drive as an attatched device. I wish I'd thought - Before I said what I thought!
