Compaq Presario CQ60 Will Not Turn On

Hi all
My wife has a Compaq Presario CQ 60 and it will not turn on.
I have tried battery & charger out and pressing power button for 20 seconds, this did not work.
When I try and power up the power light (the one that looks like a lightning bolt) flashes 3 times. I have tried to power up with out the battery and absolutely nothing happens.
I have tried removing and shifting the memory but again to no avail.
Anything else I have missed or that you can suggest please?
Thanks

Success! To a point!
Found my Trust power adapter, which has different ends you can clip on and I clipped in the Compaq end and we have power, boot up etc. So much for the blinking LEDs indicating the fault!
However I think the AC adapter in the laptop itself is loose as when it is at a certain angle it will not charge and an x comes up on the battery meter.
Does anyone know how easy it is to repair this?
Thanks again0 -
strip down the machine, de-solder existing jack socket, re-solder new one in, rebuild...how good are you with meccano and soldering irons??? Should take an hour......Gettin' There, Wherever There is......
I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple0 -

As GJ says it is a strip down job - there can be two causes, the jack itself (from your diagnostic more likely), or the plastic pillars on the base have come adrift. Depending on which cq60 submodel, they are now more suually attached to the mainboard via a short cable, which hopefully would avoid soldering.
Won't know for sure until stripped down, but the jacks themselves cost a couple of quid or so, a new base well the last one cost around £25 on ebay.0 -
Also I dug out my old FS laptop and there is a software issue where it keeps asking for a driver, put the original manufacturers XP disk in and it is faulty. I asked them for a replacement before but they said it is out of warranty.
My point to them was that how would I know the disk is faulty until I use it and never had to use it before.
Can I get a replacement anywhere?0 -
The FS keeps asking for driver for:
WDC WD1200BEVS-07LATA ATA Device
Anyone know what this is or where I can get it please?0 -

Strange that it bots up and everything then without that0
