Disabled car stickers.....

In our works car park there are several disabled spaces, but they have already been allocated (quite rightly) to people who use wheelchairs/mobility scooters.

I have a designated space which is close to the entrance on the basis of my disability but it is a normal sized space (though they are quite large).

Unfortunately recently I have been returning to my car to find someone has parked at the side of me very close to the driver door (after 4pm those working til after 6 can move their cars to the car park under the building and unlike the nice person who parks their in the morning most don't know I needs the space to open the door quite wide) so I struggle to get in, and today I have really hurt myself doing it.

I have seen the window stickers you can get asking to leave space at the back of a car for a wheelchair and I am wondering if they exist asking for room to be left to ensure I can get into the car?

Anyone ever seen any or know where to get one from? or am I going to have to get creative and make my own?

Thanks

Just type something up yourself and put on the window when you park up.

You can buy them from most disability shops, but I would do as Bigmoney says and type up your own. It is cheaper, and you can put it in your side window instead of on the rear of your car, as this seems more appropriate.

If you have a company intranet, do you have a section where you can post a polite request to everyone?

    Thanks for the advice.

I'll probably make my own and then I can stick it to the drivers window as I park up and remove it when I get back into the car.

    Have however just found these

Can your employer provide you with a cone to put next to your car to keep the space free?

The thing is it needs to be visible - I'm wondering if the OP could fit one of those pennants that parents put on those low slung kiddi-carriers you attach to a bike to make it more visible, and put a message on the flag to the effect that you need the space.

I'm just not sure how you could attach it securely but remove it easily before you drive off!

We have one in the back of the car politely asking for space to be left to allow enough room for the wheelchair to come out of the boot. It's blue and white in colour and was sent to us free but cant remember from where.
