Want singles holiday Cuba or Egypt help!

Options
My daughter would love to find a holiday for single people, (NOT to find romance!) with a single occupancy room, in the first 2 weeks of July. Ideally she would love to visit Cuba, failing that Egypt. She lives in Spain, so does not want a beach holiday, so any suggestions would be great her age group from 40 to 55yrs.
PLEASE can someone come up with something....... we realise its a bit late.

What kind of budget does she have? Does she want to go in a group, or alone? Would she be wanting to fly from Spain as opposed to the UK?

Hi There, Thank you for your reply, ideally she would enjoy a group, but with single occupancy room. Budget max £1000 it would be great to fly from spain, she lives in Alicante, but Madrid would be no problem.

I would seriously advise against travelling as a single female in Egypt, as it seems the men out there make it their mission to harrass unaccompanied women to the nth degree - it is truly unbearable. Groups are better, but the male guides are always on the lookout for a female passport out of the place. I don't know anything about Cuba, apart from the fact that the healthcare system is great!

    Love the avatar btw.

I think she is going to struggle to get flight + trip to Cuba for £1000, but if it was me I would rather spend a bit more and go there over Egypt. A single woman in Egypt is going to get endless hassle, even when in a group. Whilst most of it is good natured, it gets to the point that you don't want to do anything because you know they will not leave you alone.

G Adventures offer tours of Cuba, including a single room option. You get people of all ages on the tours, and if you contact them before booking they will give you an idea of the ages of people that have booked. Remember she will need to buy a flight separately, which will not be cheap.

There are lots of other tour operators about, but they are the only one I have personal experience of.

If she was happy to come back via the UK, she could also book with Kuoni or Travelsphere - package operators I have used several times.

I have found iexplore also, that have a tour only option, but do not have any personal experience of their tours.

I have travelled alone to Egypt many times. Yes you get hassle but I suppose it depends on your personality on how you view it and deal with it. Apart from taxi drivers who to be blunt are a pain in the bum I personally find the rest amusing. She could visit Luxor and/or Cairo both of which are very interesting but frankly she may find the temperatures too hot at that time of year.

I am well travelled, but my first trip to Egypt was last summer, and it was hell. The "revolution" has wrecked that country. It was so bad the hotel would send out staff if guests needed anything. I literally could not go anywhere without being followed constantly - and believe me, I am quite capable of telling people where to go!

The "adventure" travel companies like Exodus, Gap, Shoestring offer sole occupancy on a lot of their trips. They also offer land-only option so she could organise her own flights to suit best. She would have the safety of travelling in a smallish group. However, as lewroll says above, Egypt might simply be too hot in July for comfort (and that's only the weather I'm talking about never mind the unrest!) As for Cuba, isn't July the hurricane season in the Caribbean?
