Got the 37p Combino last weekend. Can't wait to try it; you can't really make it for less than that with decent chopped toms, herbs and the electricity used though I do feel like a cheat having jars for once ;)
It is very good quality & your right cheaper than you can make from scratch.

I bought 12 :o, I'm fine with tomato based sauces for some reason, I don't see it as cheating yet I wouldn't dream of buying other sauces, strange I know :rotfl:

savoury bread and butter pudding also known as 'Sandwich Pie' by my kids. Can be as cheap or posh as you want. Bog standard el cheapo supermarket white bread (a bonus if reduced, literally pennies) left over fridge delights to make into sandwiches, if truly boracic lint just marmite/bovril/veggiemite. Eggs and milk and butter, make as you would a sweet B & B pudding. Lovely with a tin of baked beans. cost for 4 is well under £1 we like cheese and onion sandwiches

I made beef pie the other day for tea for 41.26 pence per person (including veggies). 100g sliced frozen onions, 100g sliced frozen peppers, 100g sliced frozen mushrooms, 200g diced beef, twist of black pepper. Made the pastry myself 200g flour and 100g marg. used some of the breadcrumbed mix sprinkled over the pie to absorb the juices and make a gravy. I then added the water to the pastry and rolled it out to top the pie. Cooked in oven for 1 hour. We had this with 100g frozen mixed veg and 100g mashed potato.
All the frozen stuff was from farm foods and the other stuff was from asda.

I simmered a tin of their 4 for £1 plum toms with a finely diced onion, few bulbs garlic, half a finely diced carrot and some water for a few minutes and made enough tomato base for a huge pizza (very nearly the size of a shelf in my oven) and had enough left over to make two smallish portions of tomato pasta for lunch. That cost about 37p :D A lot more work but I'm fussy with tomato stuff and I really don't like the gel like consistency of the majority of pasta sauces in jars.

My cheap meals are dhal & hm chapattis, split pea soup, egg fried rice w/frozen peas and onion.
Current favourite is coconut rice and peas: onion 3p, 500g rice 20p, 100g dried beans 15p, tin toms 25p, 1/3 block creamed coconut 25p, bit of spice. Boil the beans until they have 15 mins left, add rice and onion, 5 mins from end add toms, coconut and spice. Makes 6 portions for 88p. Nice with a tin of value sardines/pilchards in tom sauce added but it bumps the price up.

    Corned beef casserole

One tin corned beef, potatoes, onions, peas, oxo gravy.

Put the corned beef in the fridge so it firms up. Then slice. Slice the potatos and onions. Get a dish, layer corned beef, potatoes, and onions and peas. Keep going till used up. Pour over some oxo gravy. Put in oven till potatos are soft (about 30-40 minutes)

My lot love it, and it's really cheap!:T

    Balsamic tomatoes :)

Chunk up some tomatoes into an oven dish, add in a dash of oil, crushed bulb of garlic, splash of balsamic vinegar, bung in the oven for 40mins. Serve with some cheap spaghetti,

Can't be more than 40p for 2 people? Even cheaper as I got some reduced tomatoes the other day :T

Someone can work out the costings if you like, my brain isn't working at all today lol
Can't think of anything smart to put here...

    Chilli and garlic spaghetti:

    Basics spaghetti - 55p
1-2 red chillis or dried red chilli flakes probably about - 20p
    1/2 bulb of garlic - 15p
Good glug of olive oil - not too sure, but can't be more than 50p
    Salt and pepper

Serves four so comes out at no more than 35p per person. It tastes even better with a little grated parmesan on top, but is still very nice without.
