Can anyone help me with my ppi claims - advice needed !!

Hi all

This is my first post and I thank you in advance if anyone responds but can you help me with the following 2 claims

Firstly - I like many have written to Lloyds Tsb to claim misold ppi on a credit card from 2002. I wrote my original letter in December 2011 and received a quick response saying that I did not have any insurance. Luckily I kept all my statements and sent them copies and received a letter back on 5/1/12 advising that I would receive a final response letter in 8 weeks. Its now been 18 weeks and no final response. I have been ringing them every week and each time I am told that even though they accept they are in breach of time scales there is nothing they can do. They tell me a manager has sent e mails to chase but this was 6 weeks ago. I phoned again today and was put through to customer concerns who told me the same and that I will just have to wait. Has anyone else had to wait this long just for a final response letter or do you think I have just been forgotten and my case is sitting at the bottom of a large pile of other complaints. I know many of you are waiting for your refund but I havent even got as far as a decision - any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Secondly - I am 99% sure that I took out ppi on a Beneficial Finance Homeowner loan in 2002. This was a large loan and I have managed to get a copy of the loan agreement from HFC. The problem is that no where on this agreement does it mention ppi. It tells me the amount borrowed, interest rate and repayments but no mention of ppi. The amount borrowed is not a round amount which makes me think that maybe the ppi premium was added on but how can i prove this if it is not itemised on the agreement?.

Any help will be most gratefully received !!

Sadly, this is typical of the service Lloyds provide and even by banking standards (which are very low) Lloyds are awful!

The trouble is your only options are to wait for Lloyds to respond or go to the FOS. The wait for an inital decision at the FOS is about a year! So you may have to give Lloyds more time. They will get there in the end. Chase them up, but there's no point going back to them too often.

If they reject the complaint (or never respond!) I would recommend going onto the FOS to get the decision reviewed.

For the HFC complaint. How did you get the loan agreement? If you didn't do it in the first place, for £10 you can put in a SAR (there's help / template letters on this site, that will help you with this). Then you would get more information, that would show for certain whether PPI was added.

Almost aways the PPI is listed on the agreement. One reason that the amount could be uneven is you were paying off debt? Did you only ever have one loan with HFC or did you ever 'top up' the loan?

    Hi

    Thanks for your response.

I phoned HFC as I had the account number from a direct debit on an old bank statement and they located my account even though it had closed in 2004. I asked for a copy which they sent me so it wasnt through SAR. I have only ever had one loan from HFC which was for an extension on my house. I never got into arrears with it and am sure that it was for 20k but loan amount is showing as £25300.
Do you think there may be another part to the agreement as I have literally only received 1 page - although it does have my signature on it. To make it worse I also know that after 15 months when I repaid it and remortgaged elsewhere the final repayment was only £600 less than the original loan even though I had paid over £4500 back We live and learn I guess! Thanks again

If you remember asking for a £20K loan but the agreement shows as £25300 I would hazard a very good guess that £5300 of that is single premium PPI added to the front of the Loan.

It is also possible that the £5300 could have been interest, if PPI was on there it should show on the agreement.
