we fly from East Midlands quite often and every time i book the flights (after i've booked them of course!) I think oh no better check there's nothing on at donnington and up to now I've been lucky for thanks for the heads-up. Just out of interest are they always at similar times each year or does it vary?

The other one to watch out for is British superbikes 7th to 9th September (think thats later than normal so they can vary )

Just checked and we are due to fly out on June 9th (download festival). How much more time should we allow? Are the roads just totally snarled up?

    where are you travelling from?

have you got a hotel night prior?

The area will be busy, that is for sure, all local hotels very full.

Flying at 2pm. Thought we would have had a nice relaxed journey from Leeds! Have checked out hotels near the airport. All are either full or very expensive. Journey would normaly take 90 mins. What would you advise. Thanks.

For 2pm flight, just allow loads of time and travel on the day, if you are early you can at least relax at the airport, I wouldnt recommend staying night prior...(most hoteliers will have 2-3 night restrictions in place anyway).

sorry to resurrect this year old thread but i've just booked flights from East Midlands on Sunday 7 April and as per usual have only now looked at what's on at donnington that weekend and on the day we fly it's the MG sports and saloon car races. We fly at 1610 so will be arriving at the airport about 1400. Does anyone know by any chance whether these sort of events lead to lots of extra traffic like the bigger events do?
