Using a circular saw to cut laminate flooring

Thanks to everyone for the advice. Have decided to get a "Laminator" handsaw and use that for as much as possible.0

I used a circular saw for the first time in January and am thrilled with my discovery. I found that if you clamp things securely and are careful to set the guides etc you get very clean cuts very accurately.
With the exception of hole cutting I doubt I'll use a Jigsaw again.
If you've a lot of boards to cut lengthwise accurately I would recommend one. I use a "Skil - Orca" saw which I got from Toolstation which is a decent quality though they also sell cheaper ones.

After that you set the rail guide (rip guide) which is a metal guide that bolts to the side of the saw and you can consistently cut the same distance from the edge.
As for their ability to cut laminate, like any saw it comes down to the blade you fit! For a fine cut you want as many teeth as possible so a decent laminate circular saw blade is 40 or 80 teeth. I got a pack of 3 assorted blades for under £10.
I can't recommend this type of tool highly enough as for years I've produced wobbly cuts with my Jigsaw!0
