Askmid
Just had a shuffle round of all the cars on the policies, new cars, and new policies. A quick check on askmid shows they're all still on cover, and I won't be getting stopped for no insurance. Well worth checking to ensure it's all on the data base ok. http://ownvehicle.askmid.com/

If you know you've got insurance why would you need to use askMID?0

It's askmid that matters. That's the one the police will pull you on, and the one the dvla will check the tax against. So if the insurers don't put it on, or put it on wrongly, I'm the one who'll be getting the car towed. So it always pays to check.0 -
Yeah. Strictly own vehicle only. They had my front door in with a battering ram at 3am after I checked the neighbours cars out. They even had helicopter cover in case I escaped. True story.Strider590 wrote: »Remember it's "own vehicle" only.....0 -
Why will your car get towed if it's insured??0
-
Because insurance is a liability offence - e.g. if your insurance company sends you a letter cancelling your policy and it goes missing in the post, even though you don't know you're not insured, you're still committing an offence.Gordon_Hose wrote: »If you know you've got insurance why would you need to use askMID?
If your car shows as not insured (and Tesco very almost cancelled one of my policies due to their computer not linking my written off and new car) I'd rather argue the point from my desk with a cup of tea thank with the police on the hard shoulder!0 -
It's good to know that serious crimes such as this are prioritised.

I think the point of the tread is that its better to check the database and have any errors corrected, rather than getting pulled over and trying to prove you have insurance because the database the police relys on says no.
Up to you which way you want to play it. The police will tow a vehicle if you cannot prove its insured0 -
