Windows Update installed whilst pc is turned off

On checking Windows update this morning on my work pc it shows that the last updates were installed last night at 19.43.
I find this confusing as the pc was turned off on Friday afternoon and not turned back on until this morning, so cant understand the installation time shown. Any ideas?

Is your work PC part of a network? If so the system may be set up to us WOL to wake your PC and install updates.

Your system administrators/IT department will have used 'wake from LAN' to install the updates then shut down afterwards.

They normally schedule big updates outside peak working hours

There is only the 1 pc, not part of a network. We are a small family business and I am the only one using the pc (excluding my husband playing solitaire when it's quiet !!) I shut down the pc off at the end of the day and turn it back on again in the morning. It was shut down about 4pm Friday and turned back on about 9.30 this morning. Just puzzled about it all.

The only way to ensure that your PC is really switched off is to pull out the plug of the PC.

My computer, even when it is switched off and not connected to the internet, still manages to send out help messages to companies in India.;);)

Check the event viewer to find out when it has been switched on since Friday 4PM
