Home Insurance for Unoccupuied House (refurbishment)

Hi
We are buying a house and we should exchange contracts in the next 4-6 weeks. We need to arrange insurance for the property but I hadn't realised I would need a special type of insurance as we won't actually be living there.
The house needs a total refurb and extension and we are planning to stay in our current rental accomodation until the work is complete (around 6 months or so). Therefore the property will be unoccupied (apart from when the builders are there). Does anyone have any advice on insurers that do this type of insurance? I phoned our current insurance broker and they had to put me through to a specialist department and they quoted £544 for a 12 month policy, no refunds if we move in after 6 months and need to revert to a "normal" policy.
I'm sot sure if that is a good quote for this type of insurance or not. If anyone has any advice or recommendations then I would be really grateful.
Thanks

Must insurers will do it. You will need to call them though.
They will put an Unoccupancy Endorsment on your policy - make sure you know what it says before you buy the policy as it will impose restrictions on cover and may remove entire perils that you may want covered.0 -
