MySupermarket is useless... don't bother using it...

Hi there,
I'm James and I work for mySupermarket.
The Morrisons question is asked of us a lot. The simple answer is that they do not sell their products online. We are a shopping site that allows customers to choose the products they want, getting the best prices and deals, and then having them delivered. Unfortunately Morrisons has not yet launched an online groceries service.
Kind regards

Hi there,
James from mySupermarket here again.
We do show the unit price (or per ml, depending on the right measure) on the products and compare them when we suggest a swap and save - but one of the features you might not know about, that I use constantly, is this : On the right hand side of the screen just about the products is a 'Sort by' feature. Click on that and choose "Price per unit (low to high)".
Take care

Hi Basil,
James from mySupermarket.
Thanks for the question. It's a real tricky one this. When we decided to literally bin the old site and introduce a brand new one we knew there would be an element of risk and that we wouldn't please all people. In fact, before we made the change we actually invited customers to our office in London to try out the new site and give it to us straight what they thought - and some of the feedback we got actually made us throw as few of our ideas in the bin! Thankfully though the majority felt it was a change for the better.
When we launched the new site we then emailed all of our customers to ask them what they thought. 85% loved it, 15% hated it, so we knew we were turning off some customers - but we've also carried on making changes and improvements to hopefully we managed to help some of the 15%. Since the relaunch in November I feel fortunate to say that our visitor numbers have almost doubled - and they love the new stores and features.
However Basil, I appreciate this is of no consolation you as you preferred the old site. Give the new site another go and see how you get on - it's so much easier to show you the savings you can make. If you still hate it then we've failed you - but I hope you can grow to like it.
Take care

Hi there,
James from mySupermarket here again.
Thanks for your comments. Prices are actually taken from the Sainsburys site every single day so they should be completely accurate. However, the issue you describe is quite common because of the way online works. The offers you see on both mySupermarket and Sainsburys are those offers available on that day. If your actual delivery date is for a few days time then some of those products might not be on offer any more as the retailers change them all the time in weekly, two weekly, four weekly cycles. Remember that the prices you pay are based on the prices and offers on the day your order is picked and delivered, not necessarily on the day you place your order with them.
Hope this helps

Loathe the new site, keep looking to use it then couldnt face the aggro of trying to find what I wanted.
Two reasons I used it - to compare products within a store. Not all delivery services near us are fit for purpose, I am stuck with the least awful. So while I am stuck with Asda, I can see suggestions for eg cheaper tomato soup.
I also used it to get the ipoints thingy but I cant see that any more and I am finding it hard to get the enthusiasm up to go on there anyway, so it isnt worth the effort.
eta - no probs with the staff/comms with mysupermarket though.0 -
I just want to say, I love mySupermarket
I mainly use it like James suggested, for finding deals and better prices within one store, since I always shop at Tesco normally. I used to assume that Tesco value is the cheapest range, but the suggestions feature means if there are other brands for a better price, I don't miss out.
It's a big shame Morrisons aren't online. That'd be awesome.0 -
Apparently Morrisons are looking into introducing online groceries next year, it was briefly mentioned in one of the articles where the Morrisons head honcho was talking about 'professional shoppers' but cannot find the one which says it now, doh! think Morrisons have realised they are behind the game a bit compared to the other big 3 purely due to them not offering Online delivery xx0

Mysupermarket is con, it's only there to make themselves and there shareholders loads of money. the supermarkets get to be more marketable than the local shops the deals are rotated they are designed to make you buy more so you eat more and get fatter and less fit and eventually end up getting them to deliver it too you as you slowly sink into the sofa. all in the name of helping the consumer get a better deal laughable. you probably won't notice that you have to click on lots of boxes, they make you click on 3-5 clicks where one would have done, like switching to another supermarket. signing in and confirming everything. it give them more data s to earn more money at your expense. invest in this lot and you will soon understand what happens when a bubble burst lol you have been warned. it's all a con. buy local and if you can buy organic.0

I use mysupermarket to compare prices of particular products and I find it does that very well.0

In the past, I've added stuff to my basket at mySupermarket to see which shops work out cheapest overall rather than checking items individually. One item may be more expensive in, let's say Tesco for example, though overall the shopping bill will work out cheaper than most in another store, e.g. shopping bill in one store may be £50, in another the shopping bill might work out something like £55 for the same items. This way appeared to be less time consuming then having to check every item individually, especially if you're wanting to do a big shop. Also prevents you from having to visit more than one store which can also be time consuming. I thought at the time that mySupermarket was very good at achieving this and actually worked out fine for me doing it this way. There was actually one store that appeared to be generally and consistently cheaper than others too, and helped to track the difference by doing it this way. mySupermarket appears to be good for this.
Though of course it would work out cheaper if everything you were after was on offer even if it means going to more than one store at a time on the day you're intending to do a shop. Though not everyone has time to do this however.
Generally though I do use mySupermarket to compare the prices of individual items and find the site very helpful overall. Though I don't do this for a big shop.
Also, if I am looking for something specific, herbs, cooking oil, etc, I'll click on the Sort by Relevance tab as pointed out by James in post # 23, then click Price per Unit (Low to High) and then search using a specific term rather than brand. I'll then check to see what other stores are selling and will also check to see if they are selling an equivalent item cheaper. In other words I very rarely stick to the same brand thanks to mySupermarket, if I can find an equivalent cheaper I'll buy that instead.
Of course not everyone has time to do this for every item they are going to purchase, it would be too time consuming, even for me.
Be careful not to over do it though, you can get stuff cheaper if it's sold in large quantities though can be quite wasteful. You can be tempted to buy stuff because it appears cheaper by price per unit (per gram/ml/litre, etc) then end up throwing away what you don't use. If you see what I mean.
My biggest gripe with mySupermarket however is that it can be soooooooo slow. I do like all the new option there is on mySupermarket however, Sort by Relevance tab, Price Alerts, etc, though the older version was much easier to navigate otherwise, the old site was much quicker as well. I generally get frustrated with the new site as it can be very slow.
Incidentally, try searching for something that appears out of stock on mySupermarket. It actually may not be. I've searched for stuff, found it to say unavailable and then on a later date it appears as on offer but still appears as unavailable. I've double checked items in the past on a specific supermarkets website and have found that item to actually be available, and on offer. Can catch you out sometimes.
Also, is it just me but has anyone noticed, when using mySupermarket's Price Alerts they don't inform you when ASDA drops their prices? I've noticed this a few times since using this option.
The other thing I've noticed is that mySupermarket can be quite slow when it comes to sending Price Alerts to your inbox, approximately five days slow. I've found stuff on other sites such as HotUKDeals and only then realised they were on offer.
Otherwise I have no problem with mySupermarket, it's a good tool albeit a little problematic at times.0
