MySupermarket is useless... don't bother using it...

I love 'my supermarket'; yes its not perfect comparing a whole shop but it shows the price per unit/per wash for laundry detergents with both the full price and any offer price, which none of the actual supermarket sites do. It is also perfect for comparing prices of an individual item across different shops-ideal for if you have a money off coupon for that item and are looking for a special offer. xx0

If you are a complete saddo and have the time like me, you can look at the offers in one of the SM's make a note of the best deal for you, then change to one of the other SM's to see if there is a better deal. Of course this only works if like me you use it to prepare your shopping list before going to the actual SM's.MFW £190,450/£141,1400

Since you're asking for feedback
I too often use My Supermarket to check the price of individual items and it does save me money this way (cheers guys!keep up the good work).
From my point of view I would find it really helpful if I was searching for something specific, to be able to see it's price at every supermarket, at the same time. So if i search for Whiskas, it would show me the price at Tesco, Sainsburys, Waitrose, Occado and ASDA at the same time. When I change supermarkets I often press the wrong button and change the entire cart instead of looking at the other shop, which often crashes my browser.
I have found though that it often suggests products I would never consider substituting, for example, if I search for Whiskas, it will recommend Felix, which my cat won't eat. I have often wondered if it needs a like and dislike button, so it would stop suggesting things you know you will never buy, but I guess you might miss the odd bargain this way.So so SO tired of being ripped off, and mislead
Hope sharing saves some pain.0 -

It does show the price of that product in the different supermarkets all at the same time; if you click on the product title xx0 -
My supermarket used to compare ALL prices of itrms in your basket in 2 supermarkets at one time and you used to be able to print out a list with both prices on.
This was VERY useful if you have the 2 supermarkets near each other.
I can no longer find this facility on mysupermarket.
Would be great if it still did this for 2 or even 3 shops.
I for one miss this facility.
Often different supermarkets have different sized products. It would be good if maybe they could find a way to compare and give the prices per 100gm or 100ml. A seemingly good bargain in 1 supermarket might actually not be if the weight/volume is compared against a different size in a different supermarket.
How about 2 different shop comparisons and a cheapest per 100gm/ml in any supermarket?0 -
Hi there,
I'm James and I work for mySupermarket. Thanks for your comments - and I mean that sincerely because we want our consumer site to be useful to everyone. We think there is no reason why someone wouldn't use us to save money on there shop before ultimately parting with their hard earned cash at the retailer they choose - but at the same time we are trying to make the experience better and better, because we want it to be useful.
A lot of users rely on us to manage their tightening budget but we realise we cannot be all things to all people although we are trying
Your comments are very fair. We have to start you with a supermarket so that we can show you what you can buy within your postcode. You can switch store in seconds and we'll show you which items we have had to swap. A really good thing to do is click on the product itself and then you'll see the prices of that product in all of the retailers and we'll even show you if it is on offer so you don't miss out on any offers.
And, you are totally right about the store you start with often being the cheapest. Most of our customers do not actually switch store - they use our site to save money within their preferred store, because we make it easier for you to find the best deals and suggest ways to save.
Please keep commenting as we want to get better.
Thanks
James
hi james can you say why mysupermarket doesn't give you the option of you using the OLD site board if you would want rather than this new flash rubbish someone come up with, the fact i tend to found was alot of people prefered the old version and the new coding was poorer and slower to use which to be honest makes it more hassle than it was worth! I would be interested the figures before the change and the figures now of users you have.
It would make an intresting 50p bet

The old version of the site was so much simpler and worked better.
I find mysupermarket us very useful if planning a shop and use it quite a lot. The OPs issue with margarine is easily overcome by going to that shelf and switching between stores to see what selection/prices are available.
It would be great if the mysupermarket iphone app let you log in to your account to see your saved basket.0 -
My biggest issue with MySupermarket is that it's generally out of date with it's pricing when it comes to Sainsburys. It's been fine with the three times I've used it and gone with Tesco. But with the 3-4 times I've tried using Sainsburys and looking at special offers, things half price and such, I'll fill up my basket and it might be £50 on MySupermarket. But when it gets sent to sainsburys it's £70 because all of the special offers on MySupermarket do not exist on Sainsburys site. I assume MySupermarket is a week behind maybe, and all the deals have gone? Like I say I haven't experienced it with Tesco, but I have every time for at least a couple of products each shop with Sainsburys.0

I can't edit the trolley any more since they changed their format and when you email them they are useless
I find the comparison facility quite good though, although Asda never have an expiry date, so find them the most difficult, and often most expensive. An average day in my life:hello: :mad: :coffee::coffee::coffee::T:rotfl: :rotfl:
