54 last month, 32 yrs married but no job, can;t get benefits due to NI shortfall, wifes wages dropped by 40%, car just went to scrap, no food in the cupboards and £30 to last to the 22nd May. Lost a stone though (bonus).
300 overdrawn
500 owing to others.
A compendium of knowledge and experience but can't even work for a monthly pay day.
Did a boot fair +£100 80) and sold all our valubles for peanuts.
Sick of agencies with no actual jobs on offer.
Job sites with such low wages it will cost more to get there
Turned down from 220 CV apps,, 1 x interview,
Depressed to hell.
Money Saving NO.... you need some to save it.

If you are depressed I hope you have gone and seen the Dr.
Why has the wife's income dropped 40%?
Why does it cost more to get to some jobs than you would earn? Either you live in the absolute middle of nowhere and have to get a taxi or jobs are only for an hour a day.
Have you looked at whether you could start your own business up doing something?
Are you tailoring your CV to match the job or are you just sending out the same CV each time? If the latter then you need to do the former...yes it takes more time but its better to do it that way.
Did you ask for feedback from the interview as to why you didn't get the job?
You just need to keep plugging away I am afraid, yes it sucks but there can be as many as 100 people applying per job and you need to make yourself stand out from the crowd.
Good luck and keep goingThe Googlewhacker referance is to Dave Gorman and not to my opinion of the search engine!

Just had a look through your past posts to see what work you were in and I can see it was roofing.
Is this seriously not something you could look at doing as a one man band self employed? The Googlewhacker referance is to Dave Gorman and not to my opinion of the search engine!

You have listed a lot of things that appear stacked up against you and i'm sure if you now listed thoughts down that are going good for you this may help unburden the load.
Life's too short to worry, so lets see what you can do...what kind of jobs are you applying for?
perhaps take a lower level job just till something better comes along.

What about trying for handyman jobs on a self employed basis in your area? I'll bet there are people crying out for someone to do little jobs for them. Put out some cards in windows and ask around.
Good luck

Just move to somewhere warm for the Summer...how about Ibiza or a Greek island. Rent somewhere cheap ,share if necessary,do whatever work you can find and recharge your spirit and mind before you break.Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0

How do you suggest that the OP gets to this "warm" place, and pays their rent? Have you actually read the OP?0 -

LOL i agree easier said than done, but it is a good suggestion.
My friend was recently made redundant and rented his flat out for 6 months and went to travelling to spain/turkey/south america, granted he had his redundancy package but still did bar work in spain in return for board and food..so is possible. But it is only temporary, personally i would work on improving employability, but given your age it is looking bleak.0 -
I agree it is possible. I have met plenty of people who are doing it ! They may still be equally poor in another country but at least there is the good weather,a change of scenery, the chance of some cash in hand work and some life experience. What is happening to the OP is soul destroying and enough to break anyone. OP, if you are applying for actual advertised vacancies for which you are skilled and have had one interview in 220 applications, it HAS to be your CV. Who have you had look at it?Debt free 4th April 2007.
New house. Bigger mortgage. MFWB after I have my buffer cash in place.0 -

His wife still works, are you suggesting she gives up her job, have two of them unemployed? Plus the OP is in his fifties, I am sure he has had far more "life experience" than a summer in Ibiza!0
