Best times for yellow stickers?

Hello all,
I`m on the hunt for reduced veg and salad stuff today , I`m hoping to find some yellow stickered at the end of the day but as I`ve never been out purposely for this I`m a bit lost at to what times are best to grab a bargain.
I have a Sainsbury`s and a Waitrose close by, Sainsburys shuts at 10pm and Waitrose at 8pm.
I was going to try like half an hour before closing time, would this be any good?
Cheers

Varies from store to store and depends on what you want.
If you want a good selection I'd go about 3/4pm when there is lots there at half price and most people haven't nipped in on their way home from work yet. Personally I've found a really poor selection in Saisburys after the ~7pm reductions but go to Waitrose ~1/2hr before close and I reckon you'll get great reductions on bread/cake and the fish/meat counter.Living cheap in central London :rotfl:0 -
My local tesco is best 3-4pm, but of course it varies. They pick out end of life stuff all day with a few pence off, then come along and put the prices down properly in the afternoon.:wall:0

Thanks everyone, I went to Sainsbury`s at half past three and although there was no reduced veg, I found some great meat bargains .Purchased pork shoulder steaks pack of 3 for £1 and TTD pork belly joint for £2.50
:T
Am really happy with this as they are things I usually buy and happily used to pay TTD full price for.
Now, OH is a veggie and not convinced about my bargain hunting as there was nothing in it for him today
We eat loads of fresh salads and the cost of lettuce and tomatoes these days can really drive one up the wall. I`m determined to find a better cheaper way to buy this
Thanks for the links DCFC , I`m fairly new to the forum and still finding my way around. Didn`t mean to clogg up the boards with questions that have already been answered, but do appreciate everyone taking the time to help out a newbie.0 -
I'm always amazed when I read these threads and see the bargains people get. Whenever I look in any supermarket (I have all of the large supermarkets close by) they rarely knock off more than 10% of the price. This was even the case late on Christmas Eve in both Asda and Waitrose.0

If they're close to closing, ASK.
It never hurts & local ASDA regularly go as cheap as 3pI wish I could fly, right up to the sky! But I can't...Famous Last Words: Bus?... What B....

Will this help at all?
This is the supermarkets rough reductions schedule:
Sundays may be different due closing times.
ASDA 12pm up to 25% off, 5pm up to 50% off, 9pm up to 75% and up
Morrisons 5pm up to 50% off, 7pm up to 75% and up
Sainburys 10am up to 25% off, 5pm up to 50% off, 8pm up to 75% and up
Tesco 8am up to 25% off, 4pm up to 50% off, 8pm up to 75% and up
Co-op 8am up to 25% off, 5pm up to 50% off, 7pm up to 75% and up
And the following days are when price changes occur i.e. when they introduce their offers:
Monday - ASDA/ Morrisons
Tuesday - Tesco
Wednesday - Sainsburys/Waitrose
And have a look at the Great 'supermarket staff tell us your reduction policies' hunt as well.0 -
I just visited ASDA, arrived at about half seven, got a big pack of ribs for 50p. Big pack of chickeb drummers for 50p. Duck breasts for 50p and a 4 pack of lacto free yogurts for 10p.
The guy doing reductions said two important things.
1) If you take stuff out it will be done last.
2) I don't usually do reductions this early.0 -
I'll do sainsbugs at 2.30pm as we've found this is when all the fruit and veg go down to 20 - 35p. In the week I often pick up meat etc at half price or less around 5.45pm. It definitely seems to depend on how much they have to reduce. If they have a lot of one item that sometimes reaches 30% or less at that time while if its just the odd thing it'll only be 50%.I was off to conquer the world but I got distracted by something sparkly
