Lost Wallet With important document

Well, I lost my wallet at the weekend, had my driving licence and my 2 new lloyds cards with the original bits of paper lloyds sent me with the pin numbers as i was going to change them.

But since i lost my wallet iv noticed that there has been almost £300 of my funds been authorized, iv not called bank yet as i want advice on what i can with this.

Do i need to contact police or what? will bank refund me if pin entry was used at POS.

I do not understand why you didn't call the bank straight away when you noticed?

    Call them now.

Sigh. If you were going to do such a thing couldn't you at least have put the bits of paper in a different pocket?

Anyway, get on the phone to your bank and stop the cards now. If you admit the pieces of paper with the pins were with the cards they won't refund your money, since they will consider that culpable negligence on your part

Well, if you don't call them you will be liable for everything that is done as a result of the theft.

If you do call them, they can at least monitor your account closely, and maybe stop further transactions.

There is no good reason for not telling them.

You should report it to the police too.

So you'd rather they draw another £300 out the following day. CALL THEM !!!

As you didn't protect the pin number you're liable for all losses up to the point in time that you inform the bank.

Madness to keep pin and card together,

Utter madness not calling them immediately.

Call it a lucky guess, but I think another £300 came out of your bank in the early hours of today

If it wasn't for the fact that you've been on MSE for a long time and you're a regular poster I would have regarded this thread as a wind up, because surely nobody could be so stupid as to keep 2 PINs in the same wallet as the cards and then not report it when they were lost. As others have pointed out I reckon you are by now at least £600 down which the bank will not refund you (at least, as a shareholder in LTSB as well as a taxpayer, I hope they won't) so it's an expensive lesson for you.

Have you rang them yet, or still worrying about what they might say?

I'm thinking they've probably withdrawn another £300 by now and used it on a few internet sites with your expiry date and CSC.

and unless you say you were forced to give up your PIN at gun point or something like that, you'll be liable for the lot!

    Absolute lunacy.
